I just became aware that the herb Gotu-kola grows wild all over the New Govardhana farm here in northern New South Wales, Australia. This stuff has amazing properties. Read more about it here. I highly recommend the book 'The Yoga of Herbs' by Vasant Lad and David Frawley – Amazon ships books to Australia and New Zealand and the prices are still less than what you'd have to pay if you can source the book here. If you order a few more books then the shipping cost per book works out to be reasonable.
Gotu-kola is related to the highly acclaimed Ayurvedic herb Brahmi and shares many similar properties. They are often referred to synonymously.
From Wikipedia: 'Gotu Kola acts as a powerful brain food, and is known for its ability to enhance mind power . It supports and improves all aspects of mental functioning, including comprehension , memory and recollection . It is important because it coordinates these three aspects of mind power to develop the full potential of the mind. It has a very valuable and saught-after Vayasthapana effect, meaning that it helps retard the aging process. It is excellent for both internal and topical application. Gotu Kola nourishes the mind-body connection and enhances the psychoneuro immune (PNI) response. It supports the formation of quality blood , as well as the bone marrow and nerves.'
I'll probably dry some, powder it and combine it with cayenne in a capsule as a daily tonic.
