In May of 2007 Comfort appeared in a live televised debate with Brian Sapient of the atheist group Rational Response Squad. At issue was the existence of God, which Comfort stated he could prove scientifically, without relying on faith or the Bible. ABC Nightline's Martin Bashir served as moderator at the event.
