Eight Prayers Offering Obeisances to Srila Prabhupada

sri-sri-navadvipa-para-pradipah
sandipyamanah satato bhuviha
cetas-tamo hanti hi yasya yatnan
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

sri sri-most glorious; navadvipa-of Navadvipa; para-transcendental; pradipah-lamp; sandipyamanah-brilliantly blazing; satatah-eternal; bhuvi-in the world; iha-here; cetah-of the heart; tamah-the darkness of ignorance; hanti-destroys; hi-indeed; yasya-of whom; yatnat-because of the endeavor; namami-I offer my respectful obeisances; tam-to him; sri-prabhupadadevam-Srila Prabhupada.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Because of his efforts, the eternal, brilliant lamp of Navadvipa (Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu) is now destroying the darkness of ignorance within the hearts of the living entities in this world.

vyasadya-kosam kusalam krpaluh
san mleccha-vag-desa-caye ´dadhad yan
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

sri-bhaktisiddhanta-by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada; pracoditah-ordered; sri-vyasa-adya-(written) by Vyasa and others; kosam-the treasure house (of scriptures); kusalam-auspicious; krpaluh-merciful; san-being so; mleccha-vak-of degraded languages; desa-caye-in countries; adadhat-placed; yah-who.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Being especially ordered by Sri Srimad Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and being very merciful, he placed in the Western countries, where English and other such degraded languages are spoken, the auspicious treasure house of devotional literature written by Srila Vyasadeva, Srila Krsnadasa Kaviraja, and others.

govinda-murty-ujjvala-bhaskarena
advaiti-khadyota-kulam jagatyam
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

acchadyate -is overshadowed; yat-of whom; para-transcendental; tarka-because of the logic; drsya-visible; govinda-of Lord Govinda; murti-the transcendental form; ujjvala-splendid; bhaskarena-by the sun; adadhat-placed; advaiti-impersonalist philosophers, khadyota-glowworms; kulam-multitude; jagatyam- in the world.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Because of his expert logic, the brilliant sun of Lord Govinda´s transcendental form is now illuminating this world and completely eclipsing the insignificant glowworms of the impersonalists.

gangamala kesava-keli-hamsa
sat-stotra-ratna vahatiha loke
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

yasya -of whom; eva-indeed; yatnena-by the endeavor; purana-raja-the king of puranas (Srimad-Bhagavatam); ganga-the Ganges River; amala-pure and crystal clear; kesava-of Lord Kesava; keli-the pastimes; hamsa-with swans; sat-of the pure devotees; stotra-of prayers, ratna-jewels; vahati-flows; iha-here; loke-in this world.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Because of his efforts, the pure and crytal-clear Ganges River of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the king of puranas, is now flowing all over the world. The pebbles in that river are the jewels of the pure devotees´ prayers, and playing within its waters are the swans of Lord Kesava´s pastimes.

aropayad yo madhure prthivyam

sri-radhika-krsna -of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna; pada-feet; aravinde-two lotus flowers; sahasra-thousands; hrtsu-in hearts; sata-a hundred; mandiresu-in temples; aropayat-planted; yah-who; madhure-charming; prthivyam-in this world.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who planted the charming lotus feet of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna in hundreds of temples and thousands of hearts throughout this world.

kausalyadair yasya sahasra-sastra-
sastrativarsaih pratihanyate hi
canda kaler moha-camur hathena
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

kausalyadair -granting auspiciousness; yasya-of whom; sahasra-thousands; sastra-of books; sastra-of weapons; ati-great; varsaih-with showers; pratihanyate-is destroyed; hi-certainly; canda-fierce; kaleh-of the Age of Kali, moha-of the illusions; camuh-the army; hathena-violently.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Showering thousands of arrows, which are his books, he has violently destroyed the fierce army of illusions presented by the Age of Kali.

phalah ksitau sthapita eva yena
krsnanucinta-jana-sangha-vrkso
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

nana -various; lasat-splendid; gaura-of Lord Caitanya; sudha-the nectar; prakasa-manifestation; phalah-with fruits; ksitau-on the earth; sthapitah-established; eva-certainly; yena-by whom; krsna-anucinta-jana-sangha-of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness; vrksah-the transcendental desire tree.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Upon this earth he has planted the desire tree of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, whose many splendid fruits are the many different methods of distributing the nectarean message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

nijasu siksasu sahanugami
krpambudhir nanda-sutasritatma
namami tam sri-prabhupadadevam

yah -who; nityada-eternally; jivati-lives; daivikisu-divine; nijasu-own; siksasu-in the instructions; saha-accompanied by; anugami-his sincere followers; krpa-of mercy; ambudhih-like an ocean; nanda-of Nanda Maharaja; suta-the transcendental son; asrita-completely taken shelter; atma-with his body, mind, words and self.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who is like an ocean of mercy and who has completely taken shelter of Lord Krishna, the transcendental son of Nanda Maharaja, with his body, mind, words, and self. Srila Prabhuapada lives forever by his divine instructions, and his sincere followers live with him.
